Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 16, 2026
Jewish Calendar ("we", "our", or "the app") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using Jewish Calendar, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
a) Google Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive the following from your Google profile:
- Your name and email address
- Your profile picture URL
- A unique account identifier
b) Google Calendar Data
With your permission, we access your Google Calendar using the following OAuth scopes:
- google.calendar — to read your calendar list and sync calendars
- google.calendar.events — to read, create, update, and delete calendar events
- This allows the app to sync Jewish holidays, parasha readings, and your custom events with your Google Calendar
c) User Preferences & Contact Information
We also store:
- Your preferences such as timezone, language, location, and visible event categories
- Any information you voluntarily submit through our contact form (name, email, organization, estimated number of users, and message)
2. How We Use Your Data
- Authenticate your identity via Google Sign-In
- Sync your Google Calendar with Jewish holidays, parasha readings, and custom events
- Display your calendars and events within the app
- Save your preferences (timezone, language, location) for a personalized experience
- Process voluntary donations through our payment provider
3. Google Calendar Data Usage
We take the use of Google Calendar data seriously. Here is exactly how we interact with your calendar:
What we read from Google Calendar:
- Your calendar list (names, colors, visibility settings)
- Calendar events (to display them alongside Hebrew calendar events)
What we write to Google Calendar:
- Jewish holidays and parasha readings you choose to import
- Custom events you create within the app
- Updates or deletions to events you manage through the app
We do not sell, share, or transfer your Google Calendar data to any third party. Your calendar data is used solely to provide the app's core functionality of managing Jewish calendar events.
4. Data Storage & Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data:
- Authentication tokens are stored securely in your browser's local storage and transmitted via HTTPS
- All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL
- Your Google OAuth tokens are stored server-side and are never exposed to the browser
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share data with:
- Google — to authenticate your account and sync calendar data (as authorized by you)
- Stripe — to process voluntary donations (Stripe receives only payment information, not your calendar data)
6. Data Retention & Deletion
You are in control of your data:
- You can delete individual calendars or events at any time, with the option to also remove them from Google Calendar
- You can revoke the app's access to your Google account at any time through your Google Account permissions (myaccount.google.com/permissions)

9. Children's Privacy
Jewish Calendar is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
